Sustainable Living

In an effort to stem effects of both Green House Gas Emissions and Climate Change, carbon emissions will become more tightly controlled due to International Agreements (UNCCC). Developed Societies that pollute with significant volumes of Carbon Dioxide are ill equipped to make the conversions and reductions necessary for the radical and sustainable changes that are now demanded by the scientific community. The predicted migration of rural populations into cities and towns in the developing world will have a profoundly negative effect on the Carbon Footprint should the “Western Model” of living be adopted. New technologies and strategies must be incorporated into current planning to avoid this pitfall. Population migration will create a demand for Governments to resolve acute housing, and associated utility demands in addition to employment and services problems which arise under these conditions.

New Directions Foundation addresses these problems by integrating its approach to sustainable living incorporating the benefits in the following manner:

  1. Agricultural effort producing organic oils for Bio Diesel may now be linked through a plastics technology to create new Building Materials. These materials may be manufactured in close proximity to the agricultural community growing the organic oils.
  2. These materials are used to create project dwellings. This Low cost social housing naturally forms village communities.Dwelling Village

These combined measures, will enable Planners to design integrated cities, or city extention, for future populations within a fully environmentally sustainable economic model. By the use of these appropriate technologies a platform will be established whereby "village" construction creates negative carbon emissions, and the future community carbon footprint is zero.
