Project Village & Its Dwelling

Demand exists for high quality, low cost housing constructed and erected using low carbon footprint methods. Communal benefit is ensured when the structures deliver maximum efficiency through a concept of fully serviced living. Dwelling Village

The New Directions Foundation project structures, ensure that the communities inhabiting them will out of necessity, form social ties and responsibilities which bind and enhance the lives of all who live in them.
The new dwellings require that the inhabitants accept communal responsibility for their own lives, and not merely attention to the economic needs of work. Depending on the community requirements and attitudes, sanitation, potable / waste water and power systems may form a part of the division of paid labour, equally communities may accept that responsibility for themselves and their own action. Through careful pre planning and integration of resources, the project dwellings form themselves into a "village" grouping of more than 400 people. By its nature the village will be closely linked to the agricultural effort that both surrounds and supports it. All wastes are recycled and carbon emissions eliminated.
A growing workforce demands not only gainful employment but also improved living and social standards. New Directions Foundation provides these tools for living, and economic development through the phased enactment of the project. Process Village

Building structure: Conventional urban structures from brick and concrete demand significant ground penetration and upheaval in providing foundations and supplying services to and from the building. The light weight Multi Hexagonal, Pre Fabricated buildings create structures and systems that aid efficient use and reuse of Services. The design focusses on low cost and simple modular construction methods with minimum ground work for foundations. Ground work is kept to a minimum in the construction phase, reducing cost. All pipework supplying services and removing wastes from buildings are of minimal dimensions and located above ground.

Services Provision. The community is serviced by way of a utility centre located within the boundary of the village. This structure is again constructed in standard modular form using two of the hexagonal units linked together affording both a wet and dry services area. The contents of these areas are dependant on need.

Water delivery pumping.

Whereas Dry side functions serve:

Also located within the community boundary is the Howard Higgins Hot Box system for all organic waste sterilizing and composting. It is safe to operate, non odoriferous, and treatment in the EcoSan receptacle ensures flies and rodents are not attracted.
The functions of the entire services system will be regulation compliant, with process documentation sampling and records.Solar Roof

The Hexagonal Dwelling itself incorporates the following features.

Has potential to accommodate up to 100 people over its three floors of accommodation.

The dwelling is equipped with a water collecting roof, receiving rainwater into enclosed pipes.

Foundation consultants will ensure the project elements are effectively implemented in compliance with the Foundation's Intervention Framework and client needs.
