Bio Diesel & Materials
The foundation supports the development of Jatropha plantations given the strong demand for bio diesel from Nations of the Developed world. The Foundation will engage to provide guidance in pre feasibility consultation. This work includes training of participants and stakeholders, and will continue from scoping studies to full implementation. This will ensure that both best practice, and a balanced approach to food security issues is adopted.
BIO-DIESEL PRODUCTION & MANAGEMENT
The production methods can be different; however in all cases the chemical procedure which transforms these substances into biodiesel is called trans-esterification, a process in which the oils react with methanol, in the presence of alkaline catalysts, to form methyl ester (biodiesel) and glycerine as a by-product.

BUILDING MATERIALS
In a process which uses organic oils / bio diesel, a chemical reaction can be induced forming Polyol, the precursor material to plastics manufacture. The plastics so formed from Bio Diesel have a wide variety of uses and the Foundation would encourage use of this product as a Building Material in the form of either a Concrete or Foam.
In undertaking this operation the following events will take place.
- Atmospheric Carbon absorbed by the plant and abstracted from its fruit, is transformed into a material which locks up Carbon for the long term.
- The material may be highly filled by inorganic waste to form pre cast boards and insulating foams ideal for modular or pre-cast building structures.
- The material is not bio-degraded however it may be physically degraded in a mechanical mill after its useful life, thereby ensuring that its recycled into new “Organic Concrete” structures.
- The material has great strength and may be re enforced to increase its load bearing capacity in an appropriate manner. The materials strength reduces thickness of any board or structural member.
- Simple technology ensures universality of use. The creation of modular light weight structures is a reality. Low cost, light weight, high quality structures may be effectively constructed.
